NBL champion Jayden Hodgson arrived mid week after his Sydney Kings defeated the Tasmanian Jackjumpers in the NBL grand final series 3-0. The combo guard had an immediate affect at his first training on Wednesday and after moving into his accommodation today, he is keen to represent the Redlands Coast in tomorrows match up with the Southern Districts Spartans at the First National Cleveland "Den" at the Paul Bancroft Centre.
While still getting familiar with the plays and his new team mates Jayden's basketball IQ and skills made for an impressive session. Look for Jayden to swing between the point guard and shooting guard roles with Nelson Larkins in the starting lineup. It also gives Coach Stefanovic flexibility in his guard rotations having another NBL level guard available to be on the court at any given moment. The Plasmaide RedCity Roar men will be without their centre Jarett Croff who has inflammation beneath the patella of his left knee which kept him out of the Ipswich game last week. Spartans are yet to open their account in the win column this season which makes them a dangerous and hungry opponent.
The Simple Promo RedCity Roar women are looking to make it three wins in a row but the Spartans pose a significant challenge with a roster full of WNBL talent. Watch for Spartans forwards Kalani Purcell, Nadine Payne and Leah Scott to assert their authority in the paint. The Roar will need to put the clamps on Maddie Allen on the perimeter as she can be leathal from any part of the court and has a competitive spirit that drives the team.
Women tip off at 5.30pm. Men at 7.30pm. Get your tickets by clicking on image below!
