Medal day at State Championships!

The RedCity Roar U18 boys team have played their way through to the grand final of the state championship after a great team effort against Rockhampton Rockets in the semi final yesterday winning 97-71. All four of the RedCity guards were relentless in hounding a classy Rockhampton back court and as the game progressed, Rockhampton could not find a way through to the basket. When they did, they were met with the high wall RedCity defenders. At the other end, RedCity were aggressive, calm and measured in their choices in transition and their half court sets.

In the other semi, the home team, Gold Coast Rollers, faced the Brisbane Capitals in a tightly contested game. Gold Coast have a lot of great shooters and the Capitals did a great job of contesting the shots and controlling the boards at the defensive end and then attacking Gold Coast in transition. It kept them in the game. Gold Coast's transition defence was consistently challenged at the rim, allowing Brisbane to keep their noses in front when it mattered. Brisbane Capitals winning 116-110 in a fast paced game.
